Combining ability and genetic diversity under low-temperature conditions at germination stage of maize (Zea mays L.)

Low temperatures are important for the production of spring maize in northern China. While low-temperature tolerance seeds can be improved by coating them, this result environmental pollution, high costs, and instability. Therefore, identifying new varieties is most effective method improving ability crops to withstand low temperatures. In experiment, four tolerant inbred lines (DNF266, Zhong 451, B73, Dan 340) sensitive (Luyuan 92, Ji 853, Huangzaosi, Si 144) were selected from area. The griffing double-row hybridization design was used prepare 28 hybrid combinations. After analysing general combining special each combination, we found that indoor index seedings extremely similar all parental subjected treatments under both laboratory conditions field. Several indexes assessed identify what results could produced them. Under treatments, line DNF266 had a higher 451 × 340 combination ability. These provide technical support breeding maize.
